Spencer, Niles

(1893-1952)

Born in Rhode Island, he studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. He later moved to New York and became associated with the precisionist work of fellow artists Ralston Crawford, Stuart Davis, Charles Demuth, and Louis Lozowick. While primarily a painter he did produce one early masterpiece of printmaking.
