Wicker, John Palmer

(1860-1931)

Born in Ypsilanti, he later studied in Paris under Bougereau and exhibited in Paris where he showed portraits. His work also shows the influence of Gauguin, He was highly regarded as a teacher at the Detroit Art Academy where he later became director and the school was renamed the Wicker School of Fine Arts.
