Bloch, Julius

(1886-1966)

Born in Germany, his family emigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia. He had a long full career as a painter and print maker exploring many social issues of the day. He created many images, both depicting the struggles of African Americans, and also portraying them in heroic ways.
